Daily Readings from ESV

Incoporate daily readings from the ESV into your Google Calendar. The link takes you to an html version that you can always visit. You could also toggle the ‘month’ tab and select ‘subscribe with Google Calendar’ to add this calendar to your own personal.

If you click on an entry, it takes you to the entry on Google Calendar, from which you can select the link to take you to the online edition of the ESV.

Just when I got used to using it…

Bloglines is not working properly for me. Some feeds that are working fine on Mike’s bloglines aren’t on mine. Half of my blogs have the [!] after them. I am so annoyed! Now I expect that the feed reader is surfing on my behalf and I get verklempt if I have to do that myself. What a difference two months makes!

ETA: The lunacy continues.  Mike got this post in his bloglines and I didn’t in mine.  I looked and bloglines has us listed as subscribing to two different feeds with the same address.  His is working, mine is not.  What the heck?

Yes, I know, I am months behind the times.

The girls weren’t napping simulataneously today, so I could not really pack and I decided to finally bite the bullet and try to install Word Press 2.0.3 on the server and upgrade from 1.5.2. And I managed to do it all by myself! I even used FileZilla for the first time. I know most of you are thinking, “so?” but I usually make Mike do everything technical in relation to this blog in exchange for not having to post as much. But now that I am doing techie stuff… he’ll just have to post more!

Bloglines Update

I’m loving being a bloglines user. I’ve even got Mike converted. I do still leave a good number of comments and tend to click and read posts on the blog from the feed reader when I have time. I am using my computer time more efficiently, without any real downsides. I’m glad I made the switch!

A Trial Run

I’m giving Bloglines a try. I know, I’m one of the last people to do it, but it feels like the end of an era. Having blogged for over five years, feed readers still seem new to me, and I like being forced to click around and notice new comments, etc. But efficiency led me to give it a spin. We’ll see.

I love this sort of thing

Mary, Full of Grace

Having babies has definitely increased my interest in Mary, the mother of Jesus. I was shuffling the iPod today while driving home from women’s bible study and heard two of my favorite songwriters’ excellent treatments of her.

“And the stable was not clean / And the cobblestones were cold / And little Mary full of grace / With the tears upon her face / Had no mother’s hand to hold // It was a labor of pain / It was a cold sky above / But for the girl on the ground in the dark / With every beat of her beautiful heart / It was a labor of love.” –Andrew Peterson

“I don’t know if you ascended / I don’t care what’s been amended / He was once your miracle / the faith of a little girl named Miriam / Oh you are blessed indeed / Blessed is the fruit of your tree / Yeshua King of Kings / Son of Miriam // No banners were unfurled / when God stepped into the world / held in the arms of a little girl / named Miriam” –Pierce Pettis

Yay!

We just ordered our Christmas present from Mike’s parents — a digital camcorder! I am so excited. It’s our first camcorder and we got to pick it out ourselves!

An Open Letter to Google

Dear Gmail Team —
I love using gmail and really didn’t mind the new web clips feature you started running a few weeks ago. I customized the content and enjoyed seeing the news and quotes of the day, etc. I recently had to turn it off because I was so grossed out by the disgusting recipe titles that ran on the bar whenever I clicked on my spam folder. You should really do something about that.
Love Always,
kristen

Photo Woes

So, Coppermine stopped working for us completely on our server, so we reinstalled it, knowing that we’d have to re-upload EVERY . SINGLE . PICTURE . We loaded the newest version of Coppermine and it just wouldn’t work right, so we’re trying out Gallery (2.0). I still have to reupload everything, but it gives me something to do while I sit around big and pregnant. So far, I’ve restored only a few albums. At least it’s all set up for when Lexi is born!

Library Thing

We’ve finally broken down and started cataloging with LibraryThing, but only for the kiddos. The grandparents had noted several times that its difficult to buy books when you don’t know what they already have so I decided to bite the bullet and catalog their little collection which you can view here. There are probably a few more floating around to add. I’ll add a link to their blogs for further reference!

Anniversary

Today marks five years of blogging for me. My life has changed considerably since then, and it’s fun to think that some of you have been along for the ride from the beginning. Thanks for reading.
