It was our week to bring snack to our small group bible study, so as a tribute to our old group in Austin, we brought wine and snacky goes-with-wine food. I think wine is a good tool for studying the Bible corporately, at least every once in a while. When I think of our Austin group, I think of everyone leisurely sipping wine and being honest with one another. Try it and let us know how it turns out.

I haven’t been in a Bible study with alcohol, but I can tell you it definitely makes business social functions much easier. Christmas parties with a glass of wine are much less nerve-wracking. It really does seem to put people at ease.
Our pastor used to bring a bottle of wine for pastoral visits. :-)
Actually I miss the ubiquitous presence of wine in the Louisiana culture that you just don’t get up here in Pennsylvania. What’s up with state stores!?
We have friends at an Episcopalian church in Chapel Hill who used to have a men’s Bible study group called “Bull and Beer” or something like that. Anyway, I’m sure Paul would be in favor ;)

Sounds good to me…but my relatives would fall over dead if alcohol and the Bible were together in the same room. :)
