Will your grace run out
If I let you down
‘Cause all I know
Is how to run
‘Cause I am a sinner
If its not one thing its another
Caught up in words
Tangled in lies
You are the Savior
And you take brokenness aside
And make it beautiful
Beautiful
Will you call me child
When I tell you lies
Cause all I know
Is how to cry
I am a sinner
If its not one thing its another
Caught up in words
Tangled in lies
You are the Savior
And you take brokenness aside
And make it beautiful
Beautiful

Love that song, Kristen. I understand where it’s coming from but I do have a quibble with the line “I am a sinner.” I think the Bible teaches that while members of God’s kingdom here on earth may sin, they are not sinners in the sense of nature or identity since we are actually new creations altogether.
Sorry, didn’t mean to nitpick! Happy Sunday!

P.S. It really is a beautiful melody though, isn’t it! And I love the lyric about Jesus taking our brokenness and making it beautiful.
I see where you are coming from, Tim, but it doesn’t bother me. There are a lot of things that I identify myself as that aren’t primary identities. e.g. “I am an American.” “I am a Tarheel.” “I am a crafter.” One could say “I’m a sinner” and heap on condemnation or shame. And that’s both incorrect and unhelpful. To me, saying “I am a sinner” is like saying “I’m an alcoholic.” It’s not the beginning or end of my story, but it’s a part of it. Saint and sinner. Already, not yet. Saying I’m a sinner doesn’t mean that I’m a slave to sin, but that I struggle with it.
