House shopping is so much fun.
Yes, all of those houses are in Alabama. That’s because a few weeks ago Mike accepted a job with a great school in Birmingham. We’re really looking forward to the move. We’ve felt for some time that Richmond would not be a final destination for our family and so we look forward to a new start in a new place that has much more potential to be permanent. We’re planning on going down Memorial Day weekend to househunt and hoping to move in mid-July.
While I’m doing a family update: Lexi is quite sick. More info on her blog, but please pray she fights off this virus well, and of course, for the logistics of our move (house, etc.)
AHHHHHHHHHHHHH! That’s AWESOME! I love love love Birmingham. And Alabama, of course. Woo-hoo!
Our chances of finally meeting you guys in person have just skyrocketed.
Congrats to Mike on the job! If it’s the school I think it is, that’s AWESOME.
And I hope Lexi feels better soon…
Congratulations! Big changes ahead, eh? I’m praying for Lexi’s healing. I enjoy your blog.
I have a few friends who live in Birmingham, and they really like it. As long as you don’t stray too far out of the city, you probably won’t encounter too many rednecks. Unless you want to.
Of course I like the Leeds houses best! Looking forward to y’all being here. And I’ll get to meet Lexi. Praying for her to recover soon.
Also, I want to hear about when Kate got her new red faux-Crocs.

Wow, congrats!! Now this is going to expand my brother’s network of people I know that he will know from being in the “weird Presbyterian” camp.
My brother Greg is in medical school at UAB. When my brother and sister embraced Reformed theology, both decided to attend LSU and became core members at LSU’s RUF. I was at LA Tech in Ruston, and a member of a church in “that” presbytery, so as Greg and Becca grew in knowledge of theology, they had many, many questions for me about Federal Vision, New Perspective, and all these other mean, bad, horrible, nasty things I’m supposed to be in the throes of…anyway, now Greg found the church he’s most comfortable in is Trinity Pres in B’ham, where he’s rubbing elbows with Rich, Jenny, Lori Akin, and others I’ve enjoyed…and probably more acquainted with all “those things” than I am! Interesting how God maneuvers us all, no?
I’ll have my brother keep an eye out for y’all. Again, congrats! And we’ll pray for li’l Lexi!
We, too, know people in Birmingham. Let us know if you need some people to hang out with.
That first house looks so adorable! An official congrats to you guys on the move/job. :-)
I vote for 3 and 5 :)
wow-what great houses! How fun. I can’t believe how affordable they are. Maybe one day we will find a house that teachers can afford, too! :)
I vote for 1 and 5.
Sob… no Memphis? Oh well. Having grown up in the Tennessee Valley in Huntsville I will say that area is a nice one to live in. Congrats!
1 and 5 are my favorites.
This realtor has better descriptions.
Jennifer,
You know that we also loved the school there, but the pay and benefits and the city itself just couldn’t compare to Birmingham.
Wow! I know nothing about Birmingham, so I look forward to hearing your stories about it!
Alabama! That’s wonderful – and oh, you’ll have some very nice churches to choose from there. Congratulations.
And I’m praying for poor Lexi!
Prayers for Lexi! Poor gal.
Wow–those house prices are amazing! We have family in several parts of Alabama. Maybe we’ll meet one day!
Am I the only one partial to the second one, on Wyndam Lane?
I like the first one a lot, too.
Long term, the first one’s back yard will be fun. Short-medium term–the privacy fence of the second is AMAZING. Think, open the back door and saying, “Go play!”
Praying for Lexi…and praying for you all. Hope everything goes smoothly with househunting, the move, etc. Keep us posted.
I love the first one too, though when I saw it was in AL, I thought the link hadn’t worked… Congrats! Good thing that Cape Cod didn’t work out, eh? It’s great to be in a small town where you can walk places and the store owners take an interest in your children, so do that if you can.
