Oh My…I grew up 5 minutes from Athens and Shane lived there when we started dating. Thankfully none of those names sound familiar or were people we ever dated! I’ve met a few people that I would like to try that tactic with though :)
Other funny news recently from Athens,Alabama- I guy named Jesus Ramirez was caught selling marijuana cigarettes and using a bible to roll them in. So Jesus was “holy rolling” his joints.
when i was about 7, and my brother about 5, we encountered our first atheist. we had just moved to houston from rural louisiana, and we had no idea there were people who didn’t believe in God.my brother’s room locked from the outside, so we locked ourselves in with this kid (unbeknownst to him) and i started reading to him from the big book of bible stories for kids. when he realized what book it was, he clapped his hands over his ears and started screaming. our mom ran in, and when the door opened, he took off, not stopping until he got home. he screamed the whole way. we got into a lot of trouble for locking him in, but mom wasn’t too unhappy that we tried to evangelize at such young ages–though that experience was quite offputting. his mom let him keep playing with us, though, but he would never go to church or vbs or anything when we invited him. he was only 5.
i suppose i should say, i have never ever locked anyone else in a room to witness to them…but i was only 7 when i did so, and it seemed like a good idea at the time. those women should have known better.
