R.I.P.

Kristen’s computer is dead … well, nearly and we’ve decided to pull the plug.

It looks like BestBuy will be making a killing on us this weekend. I suppose we’ll post links to the most recent, unexpected member of the family in a few days.

  1. Hey, did you guys get that email I sent you about $50 ibooks some school in Richmond is selling?

Might be worth considering, especially since you’ve got a dead compy.

  2. Yes, thanks Richard! We’re going to try to get one (or two) but they are older macs that will take a little work to get running quickly and there’s no guarantee we will actually get one. We’ll probably use one to mess around with Mac stuff and as a spare in case of emergencies. But we have no Mac software, etc. so to get it to full usability hardware and software wise would be pretty expensive. Not as expensive as buying a new Mac, but it’s a 500Mhz G3!

  3. After the car stereo incident, I don’t know if I’d be willing to spend more money at Best Buy… I guess it’s not the same branch, though?

  4. Also… if you look at slickdeals.net, they have really good coupons for dell systems. They expire quickly, so you’ll want to keep an eye on it.

From what I’ve seen, I think you can get more computer for your dollar from dell compared to best buy.

If you guys happen to both get in line, and don’t happen to buy two… I’d buy one from you if you got it. Just sayin’ :) I would love to have a mac to mess around with. Of course, if you did get two, you could probably sell one on ebay for quite a bit more than I’d want to pay you for it.

  5. Ah, Richard. If we sold one we’d hook you up before someone on Ebay.

  6. Well, Lenise. The car stereo isn’t even the most recent issue with BestBuy, but their manangers have taken steps to make things right.

Also, I don’t really care for Dells. JT worked there for a number of summers, though. I’ll see what we can do. The new HP’s are *really* nice though, and they have the neat bundles with the flat screen monitor and printer.

  7. A blog that gives great Tech/other deals is:

  8. I’ve had plenty of problems with my work-issued Dell laptops, but I don’t know how much is on my company’s side. Most, I’m pretty sure, since if you keep asking a question, you often get a much better answer than the first one. And you have to ask the question correctly. Or talk to the right person.

  9. Yeah, building our own with similar specs was more expensive with all of the different companies (dell, hp, etc.)
