Our church uses the Godly Play curriculum for children’s church (during the sermon, for ages 3-8ish.) I really enjoy serving as a storyteller. The props and stories are well done, and they emphasize wonder rather than the right answers. And I think wonder is a right feeling to cultivate in our children when they think of God. I hope it serves as a good balance to catechism in our children’s hearts.

+ Thank you for all of your prayers. Days are good and bad, even hours within days, so I am trying to do what I can when I can. It is weird to have so much difficulty walking one day and then have some pain, but not enough to hinder movement, another.
+ Thursday was a day filled with culture and friends, we went to the Art Museum and the Botanical Gardens. We drove slowly through the city in between the two and I was struck by the beauty in all three places: the museum, the streets and the garden.
+ Today on Reg’s Coffee House I heard a clean version of Ryan Adams’ “Come Pick Me Up” which made me laugh, as clean versions often do. My junior year of college I played that song loudly and with great frequency because I knew it made my roommate uncomfortable. Because I was mean like that.

All day I’ve been wondering how a man like this gets elected mayor. At least there’s the contested results and possible indictments that could shake things up.

I’ve gotten some calls and emails asking what’s up, so I wanted to make sure I was clear. I have been feeling badly for many months, and each week it gets worse. It started out as difficulty sleeping, exhaustion and aches and pains and each of those symptoms has persisted, though the front running symptom has changed over time. I am now in near constant pain, that gets to extreme levels with any exertion. Lifting my kids into their carseats, bending over, moving at all. I wake up in pain and it gets worse with each activity. I am under a doctors care and am waiting for the results of extensive testing. But it’s despairing to feel so badly so often, and it’s depressing to feel incapable of doing what used to be mundane and overall, it’s difficult to cope with anything else because I feel so consumed with my physical state.
