He Has Such a Way with Words

“There is no sense and no sanity in objecting to the desecration of the American flag when we tolerate, encourage, and as a daily business promote the desecration of the country for which it stands.” –Wendell Berry, “Waste”

Ikea Leads the Way

We stopped by Ikea in Atlanta when we drove home from Carolina earlier this month and I was pleasantly surprised to see that Ikea is now charging a nickel for plastic bags! Way to go, Ikea! They’ve also reduced the cost of their big blue bags to $.59 in an effort to get people to buy a reusable bag at the register instead of a plastic one. I was really excited. Well, a shopping trip to Ikea almost always makes me excited, but this was really great icing on the cake.

Winged Feet Design Giveaway!

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

I decided to join the mommy bloggers and participate in the Dog Days of Summer Giveaway. I’m giving away a $35 gift certificate to Winged Feet Design. That will cover a design for a photo Christmas card, birth announcement, invitation, etc. to your specifications so you can print it wherever you like and will even cover something towards printing costs for something simple like a change of address announcement. Here are some things I’ve done to give you an idea. Continue reading

Ezzo Week 2007

Do not read this post if you have not finished HP7 and care about such things. Continue reading

It’s so close I can taste it.

I’ve got my bracelet so I’ll be in the first group to buy HP at the Waldemort down the street. I really do not think that they are going to get beyond the first group, but it’s good to be prepared! After doing the B&N thing last time around, and Mike did the waiting in line outside an indy bookstore for OoP (I was traveling for a funeral) I want a peaceful evening so I am at peak form for a night of reading and not exhausted with a headache. I’ve been avoiding everything related to HP, to avoid not just spoilers, but speculation. It’s Rowling’s story, and I want to let her tell it. All will be clear soon.

Awwww… thanks!

Both Devona and Emily nominated me for the “thinking blogger award” this week. Thanks, ladies! The only person that would make my top 5 that hasn’t already gotten one (that I remember) is Megan, of the Half Pint House. But honestly, you all make me think! That’s why I hang around the blogosphere.

How the Garden Grows

The header shows a picture of a summer salad with tomatoes, cucumbers and basil from the garden. YUM! Our green and red bell peppers are getting closer to ready and we have a ton of spearmint if anyone local wants to make mojitos… I am really glad we took the gardening plunge this year.
