To Do List

It really helps me to post these. :o| I know it’s bad blog content, but thanks for putting up with me!

1. Take pictures of diapers for sale and upload them
2. Sew for the girls! — yeah, right!
3. Finish Soul of Science by Tuesday for book club (finished, but not quite on time — something came up)
4. Come up with a birthday wish list for Kate
5. Stop worrying about what houses will be on the market in two weeks

  1. Ha! I need to borrow #5. I’ll tell you- buying the first house is much easier!! Waiting for an offer is no fun at all.

  2. When do you have time to read? Maybe I’m an average manager but with a 2 year old and a 1 year old I barely have time to think much less read….

  3. I read at night and sometime at naptimes. And during our “cafe night” dates (we bring Lexi to our favorite little coffee-food-wine bistro while friends watch Kate, we eat and talk and each end up curled up with a book.) I want to read, so I prioritize it, sometimes to the detriment of other things that probably should be done first (cleaning chores.)

  4. Sometimes I post lists like this on our big white board. I simply refuse to erase the list until it is done. Whatever it takes to motivate to good works, I’m willling to give it a try.

In response to Sarah (not fair because I have mostly grown children and none of the constraints you have AND she asked you, not me!), I would say, “I can’t not read.” It’s almost a compulsion. I struggle with priorities and not getting sidetracked by a book or a magazine article or a newspaper.

  5. Those are good ideas for when to read. I wish I was more of a reader and would like to instill that in my children. I think right now that when I have time (usually during naps) I am so wore out myself that reading almost seems like work. I just want to sleep. Maybe that is the pregnancy though.

  6. Sarah,
I have found that reading is a little like exercising. If you do it every day, you *have* to do it to feel good and like your day is complete. If you get out of practice, it is so hard to start reading again. Even if I go 3 or 4 days without reading, it is much tougher for me to find time and energy to read. If I am reading every day, I can’t not read, like Carol said.
