I really appreciated this NYT article about toy manufacturing. Another reason to prefer natural toys over mass-produced ones.

Parents should also be aware of seemingly “natural” toys made by big names (wooden toys at Target, for example) that may also be manufactured in China. Better to seek out toys made by U.S. small businesses, or even those made in Europe (where they have more stringent standards than we do here).
